Britomart, Auckland

Refined coastal dining in the heart of Auckland's Britomart.

An intimate evening of coastal cuisine and quiet luxury, where every detail is considered.

The Pavilion Story

A private coastal retreat in the middle of the city.

Flavor Pavilion began as a quiet idea: to create a dining room that felt like a private coastal retreat in the middle of the city. The founders wanted a place where the energy of Britomart's trading heritage met the calm of New Zealand's shoreline—a room that felt both connected and secluded, refined but never stiff.

The Name

The name “Pavilion” reflects the architectural idea of a light, open structure by the sea—a place for gathering and celebration. It speaks to the restaurant's design philosophy: generous, welcoming, and shaped by the coast, with a sense of occasion that never becomes heavy.

Coastal Influence

New Zealand's coastline shapes everything from the menu to the materials in the room. Local seafood and seasonal produce guide the kitchen, while natural textures such as timber, stone, and linen bring the shore's quiet character indoors. The result is a dining experience that feels grounded in place.

The Dining Room

Low-lit, warm, and intimate.

The dining room is designed to feel like a private club: low-lit, warm, and intimate. Brass accents catch the soft light, while dark timber and deep ocean blues create a calm, enveloping atmosphere. The space encourages conversation and relaxation, with no harsh lighting or hurried energy.

  • Dark timber — paneling and tables that bring warmth and depth.
  • Brushed brass — fixtures and details that add a quiet metallic accent.
  • Stone — cool, tactile surfaces that ground the room.
  • Linen — soft, natural textiles that soften the setting.

The dining room offers a mix of intimate tables and a few larger settings for groups, all arranged to maintain privacy. A dedicated private dining area is available for special occasions, with the same considered service and atmosphere.

The Chef's Philosophy

Precise, understated coastal cooking.

Our chef brings a deep respect for New Zealand's coastal produce and a commitment to precise, understated cooking. With years of experience in fine-dining kitchens, the chef focuses on seasonal, local ingredients and lets their natural character lead each plate.

The menu is built around the day's best catch and the season's finest produce, treated simply to let natural flavors shine. Grilling, roasting, and light sauces are used with restraint, balancing refinement with approachability.

Connection to the Coast

Every dish tells a story of the coast—from green-lipped mussels and crayfish to native herbs like kawakawa and coastal vegetables. The chef works closely with local fishermen and farmers to source ingredients at their peak, ensuring the menu reflects the true rhythm of New Zealand's waters and land.
